The Definition of Single Action
An action type that when the trigger is pulled, the only thing the trigger does is drop the hammer (or striker).
This applies to both revolvers, semi-automatic and automatic guns.
On a single action revolver, the gun must be manually cocked before it can be fired.
With semi-automatic and automatic guns that are single action, the only thing the trigger does is drop the hammer, striker or firing pin onto the cartridge.
Then the firearm is cocked again when from the recoil of the fired round.
A firearm that the gun is cocked and the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled is a double action gun.

The part of a revolver that holds cartridges in
separate chambers radially around a central hingepin. The cylinder revolves as
the handgun is cocked, , either to the left or to the right depending on the gun maker's design,
bringing each successive cartridge into position, and
locked into alignment with the barrel for firing.
The open end of the barrel from which the projectile exits.
Anything that can be used in an offensive attack or in defense of an offensive attack. Guns are not necessarily weapons.

In the Weaver stance,
the body is bladed partly sideways in relation to the target rather than squared towards it (think boxing or martial arts fighter stance).
The elbows are flexed and pointed downward. The strong-side arm is slightly straighter than the weak-side arm.
Even though the legs are not square to tharget, the hips should be square to the target. The feet should be pointed at the target.
The shooter pushes out with the gun hand, while the weak hand pulls back.
This produces a push-pull tension which is the chief defining characteristic of the Weaver stance.

Box magazines are most commonly located under the receiver with the cartridges stacked vertically.
Tube or tubular magazines run through the stock or under the barrel with the cartridges lying horizontally (like on a shotgun or lever action rifle.
Drum magazines hold their cartridges in a circular mode (for example the famous drum magazine on a Thompson submachine gun).
On a revolver, the magazine is known as the cylinder.
Internal magazines are built into the firearm and are not removable.
Examples of internal magazines are the tube magazines of a shotgun or the magazine on a Mosin Nagant.
A magazine is not a clip!
The working mechanism of a firearm involved with presenting the cartridge for firing, and in removing the spent casing and introducing a fresh cartridge.

A railgun is an electrically powered electromagnetic projectile launcher based on similar principles to the homopolar motor.
Using a magnetic field powered by electricity, a rail gun can accelerate a projectile up to 52,493 feet (16,000 meters) per second.
A railgun consists of two parallel metal rails (hence the name) connected to an electrical power supply. When a conductive projectile is inserted between the rails (at the end connected to the power supply), it completes the circuit. Electrons flow from the negative terminal of the power supply up the negative rail, across the projectile, and down the positive rail, back to the power supply.
The bevelled portion of the rifling at the rear end of the barrel (and the forward portion of the chamber) where the bullet first engages the lands.
A catch built into the receiver of a break-open gun to keep the toplever in its extreme right position when the barrels are removed.
This device makes it slightly easier to remount the barrels. As the barrels are mounted and the breech closed,

to the center locked position. Because, however, it requires a separate act to find and to depress this tiny
tab to re-center the toplever on a broken-down gun, this feature may be irritating when trying to put a gun away in its case.
